Where Is Airlocum Available?
✅ Short answer Airlocum is available across the entire United Kingdom — England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Registration is free for both locums and practices, with no geographic restrictions. |
Airlocum is a fully online platform. Booking requests, profile searches, payments, and admin are all handled through the platform, so location only affects which shifts are practical for a locum to travel to — not whether they can use Airlocum at all.
Who Can Use Airlocum
User type | Who qualifies |
Dental locums | Dental nurses, dentists, hygienists, therapists, orthodontic therapists, and receptionists. Must be fully qualified and GDC-registered (except receptionists). |
Dental practices | Independent practices, multi-location groups, and dental corporates — anywhere in the UK. |
How Location Works on Airlocum
Because Airlocum is fully online, there are no geographic restrictions on who can register. Location affects matching — not access.
• Locums set a travel radius in their profile — shifts outside this radius are filtered out of their results. Increasing the travel radius immediately opens up more booking opportunities in nearby towns and cities.
• Practices search within a distance of their location using the distance filter. Locums nearest to the practice score higher in the matching algorithm and appear earlier in search results.
• Rural and urban practices both benefit from the same platform. A practice in a rural area can reach a wider pool of locums by adjusting their distance filter and allowing mileage reimbursement for locums travelling further.
💡 For locums: increase your travel radius to see more shifts If you are not receiving enough booking requests, expanding your travel radius is the fastest way to increase the number of practices you appear for. You can update your travel distance at any time in your profile settings. |
