How You’ll Know You Have a Booking Request

⚡ At a glance

When a practice sends you a booking request, you receive an instant SMS and email with a link to the full shift details.

Tap the link, review the details, and accept or decline — the whole process takes seconds.

Booking requests are first-come, first-served. Respond as quickly as possible.

How You’re Notified

The moment a practice sends you a booking request, you'll receive an instant SMS and email containing a direct link to the shift details. You do not need to be logged in or have the app open — the notification comes straight to your phone.

📲 Keep your phone notifications on

Booking requests are sent to locums in waves — the fastest to respond secures the shift.

If your SMS or email notifications are turned off, you may miss requests entirely while they are filled by other locums.

For the fastest possible response, add Airlocum to your phone’s home screen so the link opens instantly without loading through a browser.

What the Notification Contains

The SMS and email include everything you need to decide whether to accept the shift:

  • Pay rate — the hourly rate for the shift

  • Travel payment — if applicable (mileage for nurses/receptionists travelling over 25 miles round trip)

  • Practice details — name and location

  • Start and finish times — the full shift hours

  • Direct link — opens the full shift details and accept/reject options

  • Google Maps travel preview — the shift details screen shows travel time and mileage from your home to the practice, so you can judge whether the shift is practical before committing.
