How to Change Your Rate

1 | Go to Choose Rate | Open your Airlocum profile and navigate to the Choose Rate section. |
2 | Select your rate | Choose your hourly rate from the grid. Rates run from £16 to £27 per hour in £1 increments. |
3 | Save | Tap Save to confirm. Your new rate applies to all future booking requests immediately. |
Rate Guidelines
Your rate should reflect your experience and the type of work you are comfortable delivering. The in-app prompt is worth taking seriously: setting a rate that doesn’t match your experience level can lead to practice dissatisfaction and lower reviews, which affects your future bookings.
As a guide for nurses:
New to locum work: starting in the £16–£19 range is common while you build your rating and favourites network.
Experienced with strong reviews: £20–£24 is typical for well-rated nurses with consistent booking histories.
Specialist skills or high demand areas: £25–£27 and above is appropriate where your skill set justifies it.
💡 You can update your rate at any time There is no limit on how often you change your rate. If you are not receiving enough requests, reducing your rate slightly is one of the fastest ways to increase booking volume. If you are consistently booked out, your rate may be below market — increasing it is a reasonable next step. |
Weekend Premium
For nurses only: Airlocum automatically adds £2 per hour to your weekday rate for any shift worked on a Saturday or Sunday. You do not need to do anything — the uplift is applied automatically when a practice books you for a weekend shift.
This applies to nurses and receptionists only.
Rates Above the Shown Per Hour Rate
If you want to set a rate above the standard ceiling, the support team can adjust this manually on your behalf.
